No surprising, modern sports models from Rolex, Audemars Piguet, and Patek Philippe continue to dominate the market. With a nearly equal pandemonium surrounded examples produced in stainless steel and precious metals alike, reliably firm premiums over retail have rendered the MSRP useless. With more brands continuing to produce more watches fitted with green details, interest in such pieces is still strong as ever, as evidenced by the prices commanded by the Rolex “Hulk,” “Starbucks,” and Patek Philippe’s 5711 Nautilus in green. At the other end of the spectrum, there still is a great deal of interest in independent watchmakers, most recently with notably strong auction results from watches from F.P. Journe.
